Participants of action against benefits cancellation fined for 310 thousands
Participants of the protest action against the cancellation of benefits, students Ivan Mihailau and Mikalai Karshunou, have been fined for 10 base amounts (310 thousand BRB) each. The decision was taken by Maskouski District Court of the capital.
The unapproved action took place yesterday. First students tried to approach the House of the Government where a plenary session of the House of Representatives was in process. The deputies passed the bill on benefits in both readings.
The law will also cancel the 50% discount for public transport tickets for pupils and students. But people in plain clothes did not let students conduct their action at Independence Square.
The action’s participants tried to approach the building of the BSU faculty of law, but the same thing happened there: they did not have any opportunity to display their transparencies.
Mihailau and Karshunou were detained on their way to the underground. Protocols of violation of rules of mass actions’ organization were drawn against them. They spent last night in the confinement sell in Akrestsina Street.
