Belarus' opposition
politicians and former political prisoners have appealed to foreign leaders to
put pressure on authorities in Belarus
over what they call politically motivated persecution of Mikalay Autukhovich,
Uladzimir Asipenka and Artsyom Dubski.
The
appeal calling for independent investigations, open trials and the release of
youth activist Dubski has been send to the leaders of the EU, Sweden, which
currently holds the European Union's rotating presidency, and the United States, Belaruski Partizan reported.
It
has been signed by 27 prominent politicians, including Lyavon Barshcheuski,
leader of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF), former presidential candidate
Alyaksandr Kazulin, former parliamentary speaker Stanislau Shushkevich and
Anatol Lyabedzka, leader of the United Civic Party.
