Pro-democracy activist says security services behind his Internet slander

Syarhey Syamyonau, a pro-democracy activist in Homel, today recorded a statement with the local police department and the prosecutor's office, seeking to track down and punish those who posted a slandering information against him on a web site.
He is also asking the law-enforcement agencies to investigate the publication of four documents from his personal file at the Belarusian State Transport University. In the view of Syamyonau, only security agents could have had access to his personal file.

Syamyonau became famous this year after he forced the government to print customs declaration forms in the Belarusian language. Could this have been a revenge?

"Possibly, but I think this is connected with my general civic position in the first place", Syamyonau told the European Radio for Belarus.
