Report about abuse in Belarus to be made in Strasbourg
A spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will start in Strasbourg today. A report about abuse in the system of criminal justice in Belarus will be made during the session on April 15. It has been prepared by Christos Pourgourides, a reporter of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights. PACE will adopt a resolution and a recommendation after the report is discussed.
In particular, “a deep regret in connection with motivated abuse in the system of justice that still exists in Belarus” is manifested in the project of the resolution. An appeal to note the article of the Criminal Code according to which our citizens are punished for acting on behalf of unregistered organizations is also pronounced in the project.
