Ales Byalyatski summoned to General Prosecutor’s Office on February 16
The head of a human rights centre “Vyasna” thinks that the subpoena is connected with the centre’s activities.
Byalyatski thinks that he may be warned for acting on behalf of an unregistered organization.
Ales Byalyatski has commented on the situation: “I will disagree with it if it happens. Article 193.1 – “Acting on behalf of an unregistered organization” contradicts to the Constitution and Belarus’ international commitments in the field of human rights protection. It is a repressive article aimed at eliminating civil activities in Belarus”, - says Byalyatski.
Byalyatski will have to arrive at the General Prosecutor’s Office at 3 p.m., informs the human rights centre “Vyasna”.
