Barys Hamaida fined for Br1 million for white-red-white flag

Uladzislau Shykarou, Railway Court judge, has returned the Vitsebsk activist guilty of organizing and conducting an unauthorized picket and has fined Mr. Hamaida for 1 050 000 roubles.

The Vitsebsk opposition activist was detained again when he was distributing independent editions under a white-red-white flag near the so-called “blue house” in Lenin Street, 28. It was the third detention since the opposition member had announced the action “2011 – national flag year” dated for the 20th anniversary of the Belarusian independence, informs Radio Liberty.

Let us remind you that it was not the first time Barys Hamaida had stood trial for such actions, the court had acquitted the opposition member before.
