Belarus may be deprived of “Eurovision”
A number of MEPs are planning to approve an appeal to the European Broadcasting Union asking to deprive Belarus of the right to take part
in the European song contest “Eurovision” on Thursday, informs “Gazeta.Ru”.
The suggestion not to allow Belarus to take part in the contest was one of the variants of the sanctions prepared by the European Union in response to Minsk authorities’ severe dispersal of the opposition action after the presidential election on December 19.
“Eurovision” will be hosted by Dusseldorf, Germany, in 2011. Belarus is the only European country financing all the preparation for “Eurovision” and participation in the contest from the budget.
