The opposition members detained in Orsha were heading for Brussels to meet the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy.
They had been going to discuss the problem of political prisoners and the plan of European support of the modernisation of future Belarus, informs Radio Liberty. Political scientist Ales Lahvinets is sure that the European Union will condemn the breakdown of the meeting.
Let us remind you that Anatol Lyabedzka, Syarhei Kalyakin and Alyaksandr Atroshchankau were made to get off the train “Minsk-Moscow” on their way to Moscow yesterday. They had been going to head for Brussels from Moscow. They have been accused of “petty hooliganism” (the opposition members are said to have used bad language) and will stand trial today.
