Trial against Andrzej Poczobut to be resumed tomorrow

12.35. A break has been announced in the trial against Andrezej Poczobut till tomorrow. Arguments will start at 10.00 on Friday.

Lawyers say that all the appeals of the defense have been declined.

12.05 Member of Union of Poles Renata Dzemianchuk has been detained near the Lenin district court of Hrodna.The lady was holding a poster of Andrzej Poczobut in her hands. Policemen caught her and drove to the police department. Member of the Union of Poles Ihar Bantsar, who is also near the court building at the moment, has informed this to Euroradio. 

11.20. People are holding posters with Andrzej Poczobut's photo, waiting for the break when the lawyer will come out and say something about the trial.

10.45. Catholics are singing religious songs. Today's a Catholic holiday - the Day of the Body of Christ. They are praying for the fair court.

10.30. A woman appeared among the plain-clothed video-operators today. They also started filming people out of the court's windows for the first time.

10.15. Dozens of people gathered near the court building today as well - Andrzej Poczobut's relatives, friends and colleagues came to support him. "The trial has started but there is no information so far", — Aksana Poczobut says. According to her, she couldn't see her husband again. Someone told her they convoyed him to the court with his head down and arms behind his back.

Aksana Poczobut does not exclude that the sentence may be pronounced in the nearest days.

After the public prosecutor presented new charges, Andrzej Poczobut and his lawyer asked to postpone the trial as they needed to study the new case materials. The trial will be resumed today in the Lenin district court of Hrodna at 10 a.m.

Poczobut's lawyer Aliaksandr Birylau informed on June 17 that the essense of the accusation remained the same, the prosecutor only amended some of the wordings.

Let us remind you, Andrzej Poczobut is accused of slander and insult of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The trial is taking place in a closed regime.
