Requiem mass for Iryna Kazulina to take place at Red Cathedral

The requiem mass for the late wife of political prisoner Alexander Kazulin will take place on March 26 in St. Simon and Alena Cathedral (also known as the Red Cathedral) in Minsk. Under the Roman Catholic tradition, the mass must be held 30 days after death. "However, in the case with Iryna Kazulina, 30 days coincided with March 23, the Easter Sunday. Therefore, the family decided to postpone the requiem mass to March 26," said Ihar Rynkevich, a deputy chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) and Kazulin's former lawyer.

The politician invited all those who attended the funeral of Iryna Kazulina to come to the requiem mass and commemorate the late. "She was not just the wife of a former presidential contender and the No 1 political prisoner. She was also a courageous woman who desperately fought cancer and helped others in this fight", Rynkevich noted.

The requiem mass for Iryna Kazulina will begin at 1900 in the Red Cathedral in Minsk, reports Belapan.
