Rescuers from Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia get ready for joint drills
The first meeting of a regional group of rescuers from Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia is taking place in Minsk. They are expected to discuss the coordination of actions in preventing and responding the chemical accidents with trans-border affects in the region.
Belarus has received a grant of over $1 million to buy a chemical protection vehicle and a launch boat to be used for collecting oil splashes in water reservoirs.
The meeting is expected to end with the signing of a partnership agreement between the three countries. Joint drills will also be held in the Vitsebsk and Hrodna regions of Belarus, reports Interfax.
