Russia and Ukraine to conduct gas negotiations today
Negotiations about signing documents concerning gas debts of Ukrainian enterprises started on Tuesday in Moscow.
The head of the administration board of “Gazprom” Aleksei Miler and the Ukrainian Minister of Fuel and Energy Yurii Boiko have discussed the schedule of payment of the debt. “Gazprom” announced it was going to cut down on gas supplies in case the 1.3 billion USD debt was not paid till November 1, 2007 a week ago.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister Victor Yanukovich will arrive in Moscow to conduct negotiations with his Russian colleague today. The secretary of the Ukrainian President informed that the Prime Minister received Victor Yushchenko’s precise directions on the issue.
The deputy head of the secretariat stressed that “no emotions should be involved in the issue and there should be no reaction to announcements that could provoke Ukraine”.
