Russian drones used Belarusian airspace during the recent large-scale attack on Kyiv on the night of May 24, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels.
The massive strike on Kyiv began overnight on May 23. The first reports about drones entering Ukraine from Belarus appeared around 5:20 a.m. Ukrainian monitoring channel “Rynda Monitors” reported that “throughout the night, repeated UAV incursions from Belarusian territory were recorded; one of them is currently moving toward the Chornobyl exclusion zone.”
The same channel later reported new drone incursions at 6:11, 6:45, and 6:54 a.m. At 7:06 a.m., it said another drone was moving from Belarus toward Prypiat. A similar report appeared again at 10:10 a.m.
The situation repeated the following night before the launch of Russian missiles. At 2:31 a.m., a drone entered Ukraine from the Homiel region heading toward Chornobyl; at 2:33 a.m., another was heading toward Ovruch; and at 2:40 a.m., yet another drone was again flying toward Chornobyl.
Other Ukrainian monitoring channels also reported drones crossing from Belarusian territory. In total, at least nine such incursions were recorded on May 23–24. According to published flight maps, the drones were launched from Russia’s Bryansk region and flew along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
