Russian manufacturer concerned about harvester imports from Belarus
A Russian manufacturer says Belarusian harvesters are of poor quality and are sold at "dumping prices."
Valery Maltsev, director general of Russia;s Rosselmash agricultural equipment maker, raised concern about Belarusian equipment makers' expansion to Russia.
He said that Homselmash has sold about 1,200 harvesters in Russia this year, while not a single Russian harvester has been sold in Belarus. He added that Belarusian harvesters are sold in Russia at "dumping prices," Interfax reported.
According to him, a Belarusian harvester costs $191,000 in Belarus, while the same mashine is sold nearly $50,000 cheaper in Russia. He added that Belarusian-made harvesters are of a low quality.
"Evidently, a government subsidy that makes it possible to lower export prices," Maltsev charged.
Vasil Klimyanok, deputy director general of Homselmash, said Maltsev's statement was not the first complaint from Russian manufacturers.
"There is much mudslinging in connection with our harvester sales. I have not heard the statement about the dumping prices, but there is too much mudslinging on the Internet and also from Soyuzagromash and other companies," Klimyanok said.
