Sannikov: I saw confused faces of policemen during solidarity action

European Belarus leader Andrei Sannikov saw confusion on the faces of policemen during yesterday's opposition action in Minsk.  The solidarity action took place on Monday, with nearly 200 people participating. They stood along Independence Avenue in front of Academy of Sciences, holding portraits of the politicians who disappeared without a trace.

"On the one hand, police officers were fulfilling their order and warning people about possible consequences. On the other hand, they could see the portrait of Gen. Zakharenko...", Sannikov told Charter'97. In his view, enough people gathered for the action in order "to draw attention to political disapperances in Belarus and to demand an international investigation of those kidnappings".
