Serbia chairs Council of Europe
Serbia has become the chair of the Council of Europe, despite criticism from the EU that the country is reluctant to push with democratic reforms. Serbia has taken over the Council of Europe's chairmanship at the time of the protracted political impasse, when no government has been formed yet three months after the general elections.
The Council of Europe is Europe's main body which oversees how human rights are observed. Serbia will chair the organization for six months. It will be responsible for chairing the sessions of the human rights body and to present priorities for the operation of this organization.
