Solidarity Day events take place in Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine

Activists on August 16 handed out flyers and brochures titled in the English and the Czech languages "Belarus: Europe's Last Dictatorship" that reminded by-passers about the disappeared opponents of the Lukashenka regime and about the actions of the Belarusian opposition. In Warsaw, activists staged a picket near the presidential palace and Adam Mickiewicz monument, They were seen holding white-red-white flags and posters that said: "Freedom to Political Prisoners!" and "Dictator to Prison!".

In Ukraine, the action of solidarity with the political prisoners and relatives of the disappeared took place at Belarus-Ukraine border. Members of the Ukraine-based Solidarity initiative handed out flyers and DVDs with Yury Khaschevatsky's film Square, reports Charter'97.
