Supreme Court to decide the fate of “Belarusian Christian Democracy” today
The Supreme Court’s decision concerning the complaint of founders of a social civil association “Belarusian Christian Democracy” about the refusal of Ministry of Justice to register it will be announced today.
Nasta Loika, Pavel Nozdra and Alyaksei Sheіn are asking the Supreme Court to oblige the Ministry of Justice to register the association because, in their opinion, the refusal of the Ministry violates the Constitution of the country and its international commitments.
Among the reasons for the refusal to register the association named by the chief specialist on civil associations of the Ministry of Justice Yauhen Kakysha are the fact that the date of the first conference of “BCD” mentioned in the documents sent for registration and the one mentioned by witnesses in court do not match; the variance of the statute documents and the terms mentioned in the legislation and the absence of explanation of such notions as “adherents of the Christian world view”, “Christian values” and “Christian approach”.
Shein noted that the mentioned notions were not special because they were widely used and their sense can be understood from dictionaries and encyclopaedias.
