Turkey, EU reach deal over Nabucco gas pipeline
Turkey has agreed to join the international consortium of gas transit countries -- Nabucco -- that aims to build a pipeline in order to pump gas from Azerbaijan to Europe. The Turskish energy minister said that his country would seek to purchase 15 percent of the transit gas at a reduced price. This condition of Ankara was one of the main obstacles to sign an international agreement between Turkey, Austria, Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary on pumping the natural gas from the Caspian Sea to EU to bypass Russia.
