US State Department is waiting for release of other Belarusian political prisoners

The United States welcomes the release of Zmitser Dashkevich and Mikalai Autuhovich. The Deputy Assistant Secretary David Kramer informed about it at a meeting with a group of Belarusian journalists in Washington.
“I think this is a beginning. The other five political prisoners including Zdzvizhkou should be released before taking any further steps. We are hoping that his sentence will be reconsidered”, - said Kramer.

In his opinion, the USA “hit the mark” when it imposed sanctions on “Belnaftahim”. If the official Minsk does not release political prisoners, new sanctions may be imposed on Belarus, stressed the representative of the State Department.
