Volha Ipatava shames Patriarch Kiryl for his greetings

The former Chair of the Belarusian Writers' Union Volha Ipatava has addressed with an open letter to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kiryl, reports BelaPAN.

"Your greetings to Aliaksandr Lukashenka on another "elegant" re-election as a President of the Republic of Belarus made many Belarusians (I think people in other places of the world, who know the price for this "victory", as well) feel shame and deep disappointment", — stated in the letter.

"You are sure to know that the dispersal of the peaceful demonstration was based on provocation, this is confirmed by numerous witnesses and unbiased audio- and video recordings, — notes Volha Ipatava. — You could not fail to know about hundreds of injured people, including the presidential candidates, chosen by people, the candidates who were brutally beaten and disgraced by all the state mass media. You probably know that one of the best Belarusian poets Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu was dragged on the floor after a severe head injury, that they seized him right from under the drip bulb in the hospital. This could not be done without a direct order of the state leader. In fact, you have given him an indulgence as the leader of the Russian Orthodox world by greeting him on victory".

Ipatava reminds that this politically weighed greeting reminds the times when the Russian Orthodox Church, following Suvorov and Muravyov the Bloody, rooted out Belarusian national conscience and Belarusian church, basing not on fraternal understanding, but on political reasons.
