Wife of political prisoner Andrei Klimau meets her husband
The wife and lawyer of a political prisoner Andrei Klimau Tatstsyana Leanovich met her husband in the confinement cell. The meeting took place on October 2, on the day Minsk City Court refused their appeal.
According to Tatstsyana, it is not clear where the famous opposition politician will be serving his sentence.
Tatstsyana Leanovіch: “I came to inform him about the results of our mutual appeals. He has no warm cloths and shoes… The procedure of changing places is very hard for prisoners. People are trying to survive”.
Let us remind you that the Central District Court of Minsk returned Klimau guilty of public appeals to overthrow the state regime or to change the Constitution with the help of mass media.
The reason for the accusation was a publication on the web site of the United Civil Party. The politician has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a labour camp. The meeting of the city court collegium was closed and Klimau was not present there.
The politician has already served two sentences before: from 1998 till 2002 (he was said to have committed larceny) and from 2005 till 2006 (for organization of mass actions violating the civil order or active participation in such actions).
The “International Amnesty” organization considers Klimau a prisoner of conscience.
