Yury Lyavonau: Investigators suggested that he should confirm the version of a terrorist act at the very beginning

The former participant of the case of Vaukavysk entrepreneurs Yury Lyavonau has claimed that investigators asked him to confirm the version of a terrorist act at the beginning. A human rights activist Aleh Vouchak has informed BelaPAN about it.

Lyavonau has informed the court that investigators demanded that he should confess that Autuhovich had been preparing attempts at peoples’ lives at the very beginning. The victims were supposed to be the former head of Hrodna Province Executive Committee Uladzimir Sauchanka and the deputy Minister of Taxation Vasil Kamyanko. Lyavonau has also claimed that physiological pressure was exercised on him to make him witness against the suspects.
Lyavonau is one of the main witnesses in the case of Mikalai Autuhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka. He was detained together with them in Vaukavysk on February 8, 2009 and released on August 8. His criminal case was closed on September 24. At the moment  Lyavonau resides in Moscow to look after his ill mother.
