102 settlements in Brest and Homel regions remain blacked out

102 settlements, including 11 villages in the Brest region and 91 in the Homel region, and 23 dairies have remained without electricity as of 0700 on January 13, Belenergo state electricity supplier told Belta news agency. The black-out was caused by heavy snow and icing on grid wires that collapsed because of the weight. 28 repair teams were dispatched to fix the problem, while mobile generators were brought from the neighboring regions.

Belenergo said power supply would be restored completely today in the Brest region, but more time is required to repair wires and poles and the Homel region.
