10:50 Latvia spends $400K to clean up Daugava

Almost $400 thousand have been spent by the Latvian government to clean up River Daugava from diesel slicks that floated in from neighboring Belarus. The environmental damage due the accident on the Belarusian leg of the Unecha-Ventspils pipeline is yet to be calculated. The accident occurred on March 23 in the northen Belarus. Some 120 tons of diesel were leaked into River Ula and then entered Zahodniaja Dzvina (Daugava in Latvia), according to Interfax news agency.
