12:27 Belarus threatens to increase duty on oil transit

Belarus may increase the duty on transit of oil products starting from March. It was announced by both the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy.

Excise rate increase is necessary to compensate for expenses of petroleum processors who have to pay 53 USD per ton of Russian raw oil.

Moreover, the profitability of Belarusian oil export has decreased because of the high oil price. The situation has become worse in connection with the decrease of oil prices at world markets.

Let us remind you that Belarus had to abolish the turnover tax on income from oil trade and to decrease the excise rate by 60%.

According to the existing agreement, Russia will get 53 USD per ton of oil. There were no such tariffs in the past and Belarus could transit Russian oil to Europe taking all the export duty to the budget, reports “Intefax”.
