29 308 Belarusians convicted for first half of this year
29 308 people have been convicted in Belarus for the first half of this year, informs telegraf.by. Among them there are only about 2 thousand people convicted with suspension of sentence or without definition of punishment. The Deputy Head of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus Valery Kalinkovich underlines that each fourth person after prison commits crimes again. As for those who were convicted with suspension of sentence, there are much less recidives among them. The expert thinks that people convicted with suspension of sentence feel the threat all the time: they know they will be imprisoned if they commit a new crime. This forces them to obey the law.
