2nd heart transplantation surgery made in Belarus
The second heart trasplantaion operation was carried out in Belarus, Aliaksandr Mrochak, the director of the National Center for Cardiology, told the Interfax news agency. The heart was transplanted to a 55-year-old man.
The first heart transplantation surgery took place on February 11, 2009 in Belarus. The heart was transplanted to a 36-year-old woman, a resident of Belarus. The operation was made by Belarus' leading cardiologists. A total of 20 specialists were involved in the operation.
The woman is expected to be discharged from the cardiology center to undergo rehabilitation at the National Rehabilitation Center near Minsk. Doctors said the woman was feeling normal.
