AAC employee: Ordinary people will not feel the influence of the Internet decree
he decree on regulation of the national Internet segment “has been elaborated for people and cares about people”, claims the Active Analytical Centre (AAC) of the Belarusian President. In the first place, as BelaPAN has been informed by an employee of the centre, it concerns technical measures of information protection which involves certification and standardization.
Although “Beltelecom” is the national Belarusian operator, it may be deprived of its monopoly on the external Internet access. Employees of the centre are studying this issue now.
The employee of the centre has claimed that they are not going to restrict the access to opposition websites. “If a website is opposition it is not a problem. I know that it is possible to buy any opposition newspaper in the President’s Administration and in the Council of Ministers. Nobody just has to exceed the limits of the legislation”, - he claimed.
At the same time, the centre and the Ministry of Communication have to denote the order of restriction of Internet users’ access to the information forbidden to be distributed according to the legislation. If forbidden information is found on some website, the provider will be ordered to restrict access to it. According to the employees of the centre, they may forbid access to a number of extremist resources.
The analytical centre claims that ordinary law-abiding citizens will not even notice the decree.
