Anatol Lyabedzka: The future of the UDF is open to question now

UDF candidates will most likely continue their participation in the election campaign till the end. The decision was discussed by the administration of the UDF and has been suggested to the political council that will consider it on September 21.
The leader of the United Democratic Forces Anatol Lyabedzka has informed ERB about it. According to him, two coordinated positions are included in the project of the decision: first, the UDF does not admit the legitimacy of the elections due numerous violations; second, democratic candidates will continue their participation in the election campaign till the end to observe the poll and to reveal new falsification cases.

Anatol Lyabedzka: “The work will be conducted in constituencies having competitive UDF candidates. There will be about 25 constituencies of the kind”.

Alyaksandr Kazulin, Syarhei Kalyakin and Lyavon Barshcheuski who used to claim he supported the idea of a boycott attended the meeting besides Lyabedzka. Anatol Lyabedzka noted that the main thing was the compromise reached by different UDF members.

Anatol Lyabedzka: “In fact, we seem to have taken a much more significant decision than it could seem yesterday. The future of the United Democratic Forces in open to question. Now, and after the elections. The compromise reached by the presidium opens new horizons and strengthens the UDF as a coalition. This is the most important result of the yesterday’s meeting and our decisions”.
