Authorities say "No!" to another picket in Minsk
Minsk city executive office refused the activists in conducting picket on October 30. The picket was aimed at turning the public's attention to mass violations of the criminal procedure legislation with regard to the citizens, informs the human rights center "Viasna". One of the applicants of the picket Uladzimir Valodzin was detained in the pre-trial detention center with no grounds on September 8 and released without accusations only on September 17. More that 10 activists were detained together with him. Each time they were suspected in having committed different law violations.
The Deputy Head of Minsk City Executive Committee Mikhail Tsitsiankou refers to the impossibility to conduct a picket in the applied place in his response. To his opinion, a picket at the territory between residential buildings Nos. 2 and 6 at Very Kharuzhaj Street will create obstacles to pedestrians and traffic movement.
