Vaskovich, who is also an activist of the steering committee for creating a party "Belarusian Christian Democracy" was detained in Minsk at the Independence Square on December 19 as a participant of the protest action, and sentenced to 12 days of detention.
He was summoned for a conversation to the Mahileu regional KGB administration on January 11. They "suggested to sign a document promising not to take part in such actions anymore". "He signed this document only after they had changed the last sentence so that it said that he will take part in peaceful actions further on as it is his civil position and a constitutional right. Maybe this became the reason for the second detention of the journalist and civil activist. As a revenge", — writes "Babruisk Courier".
