BAJ protests against detention and beating of journalists

The Belarusian Association of Journalists has made a statement protesting against the use of force against journalists. It has also protested against the state mass media’s coverage of the events.
“The Belarusian society was completely misinformed about the aims of the event, the number of its participants and their behaviour”, - said the BAJ deputy chairperson Andrei Bastunets.

“According to our sources, about 20 journalists were detained last night and today. Approximately the same number of journalists got beaten. Belarusian and accredited foreign journalists were among them. Some of them are still in the detention centre”.
