Bakiyev's son in Minsk?
Maxim Bakiyev, the son of the ousted Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, has most likely left Latvia, Latvian Interior Minister Linda Murniete, said in a statement. Bakiyev junior is wanted by the interim Kyrgyz government through Interpol channels. Linda Murniete reckons that Maxim Bakiyev left for one of the Schengen-zone countries since EU member Latvia has no borders with the Schengen countries.
According to unofficial reports by the Russian business daily Kommersant, Bakiyev's son left for Belarus to join his father Kurmanbek Bakiyev who is under the protection of the Belarusian president. However, there are no official reports that Maxim Bakiyev crossed the border into Belarus.
Maxim Bakiyev might have also fled to one of the Latin American countries which do not extradite people at the request from Interpol.
