Barazenka persecution awareness campaign kicks off in Poland

Belarusian students demonstrated outside Warsaw University in the Polish capital on November 20 to raise awareness of the criminal prosecution of Alyaksandr Barazenka, a Belarusian who studied in Poland but was jailed in Minsk last month over his role in an unauthorized opposition protest held earlier this year.

Barazenka supporters were waving white-red-white flags and passing out leaflets in Polish. Leaflets in English will be distributed by Belarusian students in Germany and other European countries. Students passed out leaflets in Krakow the previous day. The campaign will travel to Lublin, Gdansk and Gniezna on Friday. The leaflets urge people to send letters of support to Belarus' political prisoner.
