Barys Hamaida detained for mournful performance
A member of the opposition Barys Hamaida was detained in Vitsebsk this morning. He organized an action dated for the anniversary of Chernobyl disaster in the centre of the city.
He went into the street with a bell of mourning at about 11 a.m. About a dozen policemen and special police troops officers watched him getting ready for the action.
The “death-bell in remembrance of victims of Chernobyl” sounded for 2 or 3 minutes. Then the policeman made Hamaida gather his belongings and get in a minibus without number plates. Now he is in the police office.
