BCD activist Ales Halavan fined for 857 thousand rubles
A BCD activist Ales Halavan has been fined for 875 thousand rubles, reports Radio Liberty. The activist received the legal provision by post. According to him, he did not receive any subpoena.
Halavan was returned guilty of illegal distribution of printed editions. The incident that resulted in a hearing occurred on May 4. The activist got detained while he was giving out editions of the steering committee of the BCD. No report was drawn up in the police office as policemen noticed that bulletins “Vesnik” and “Belarusian Christian Democracy” had a normal date-line. Nevertheless, the printed editions were confiscated from the activist – he was told it was necessary to study their contents.
It became known that a report about illegal distribution of printed editions had been drawn up and even sent to court on June 8. Ales Halavan says he has not received any subpoena in these 1.5 months. That is why the visit of the postman who handed him the legal provision was a surprise. Policemen have announced that all the editions left in the police office have been confiscated.
