Belarus and Russia sign pack of documents on oil supplies
Belarus and Russia have signed a pack of documents on crude oil supplies. The Russian vice PM Igor Sechin has claimed that the pack contains agreements on crude oil supplies to Belarus, methods of tariff creation for oil trade, crude oil balance for 2010 and a joint announcement of the two states’ Prime Ministers about the guarantees of uninterrupted transit. He has also claimed that the two sides have agreed to organize an additional revise of oil consumption in Belarus. According to Sechin, as BelaPAN reports, crude oil supplies may be corrected if necessary.
Despite of the signed agreement on oil supplies, Belarus will continue insisting on duty-free oil supplies. The reason for it is the fact that the single customs territory will come into power in the Customs Union on July 1.
The current agreement would not be able to exist for a long time, claimed the senior deputy of the Prime Minister Uladzimir Syamashka in an interview with Belarusian channels. According to him, it is absurd to introduce quotas and duties for some goods in the Customs Union. Syamashka has claimed that Belarus and Russia will have to reconsider the issue of oil supplies and it is not excluded that there will be some essential thoroughgoing changes.
