Belarus and Vatican prepare agreement on cooperation

An agreement on cooperation between Vatican and Belarus has been prepared. The Chairman of the Belarusian Catholic Bishops' Conference Aliaksandr Kashkevich has said in his interview to the Catholic informational agency that the document is ready and we need to pray so it would be signed soon, informs the Belarusian affiliate of Radio Vatican.
According to the hierarch, the Catholic Church always tries to negotiate with the authorities in Belarus. Alongside with that, Aliaksandr Kashkevich noted that the quantity of foreign priests in the country decreased. There are 48 of them left, and there used to be 85. Some of them worked here for 20 years.

There is a visa problem for foreign priests - for instance, foreign pastors in Hrodna diocese are given visas only for half a year. Poles live in that region, and they have a right for their native language, while the authorities see a problem in that sometimes, thinks the bishop Aliaksandr Kashkevich.
