Belarus appeals to UNO countries to create global partnership of youth

Such statement has been declared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Siarhej Martynau at the UNO summit. He focused on the 8th Aim of development of the millenium - the so-called "global partnerships". As positive examples, he mentioned the global partnership against slavery and human trafficking, the world counter-terrorist strategy and partnership in the interests of development of Africa. As negative ones, he mentioned climatic summit in Copenhagen, Doha round trade negotiations and providing of global power security. Martynau appealed to the UNO countries to create a new global partnership for protection of the interests of youth.

Martynau: "Belarus would like to suggest a perspective idea, the basis of which, to our opinion, is very important to be established right now... The essense of our suggestion is creation of a new global partnership for protection of the interests of youth. We think that the UNO ground may play the key part in elaboration of concrete mechanisms of support of talented youth and preparation of young managers of a new type".

Let us remind you, that the UNO summit, which is taking place in New York on September 20-22, is dedicated to progress with regard to the 8 aims of development of the millenium set in 2000. They are liquidation of poverty and hunger, provision of primary education to everyone, decrease of child mortality etc.
