Belarus to ban tobacco ads by 2010

Belarus is set to introduce a complete ban on the advertisments of tobacco products, the First Channel quotes Uladzimir Maksimchuk, the coutry's chief narcologist, as saying. The amendments will take place in the framework of the general convention passed two years ago.
The document also envisages the ban on smoking in public areas and bans the insription of deceiving statements like "Light Cigarettes" on the cigarette packs.

Besides, the chief narcologist has ordered the sanitary services to inspect Kalian bars in Minsk. According to Maksimchuk, some customers complained about their health and were referred to doctors after visiting those bars.
