Belarus chopper in Greece to extinguish fires

A Mi-26 cargo helicopter operated by the Belarus's Ministry for Emergencies is off to Greece where it will assist the local government to extinguish fires. The helicopter is expected to stay there for 112 days. It is equipped with water tanks which can colllect up to 15 tons of water without landing. The water is poured with high presion. 9 crew and 6 ground technicians are to fly and maintain the helicopter in Greece.

Greece approaches other nations every year seeking help to extinguish fires. Belarus offered assistance despite the fact the Ministry for Emergencies opereates only two Mi-26 helicopters, the biggest cargo chopper in the world, according to Belta.
