Belarus doesn't want to depend on natural gas shipments from Russia

Belarus is planning to diversify the regions and the suppliers of natural gas. This is stated in the strategy of development of energetic potential of Belarus. As informed by BELTA, the document has been approved by the resolution of the Council of Ministers and will cover the time period till the end of the year 2020. The following factors will be considered when choosing a gas supplier: availability of stock, availability or necessity to create a transport infrastructure for shipment, economical efficiency and prices for gas.

The document lists the following regions as alternative and perspective for Belarus in the sphere of energy products shipment: Caspian, Middle Asian, South American regions, as well as the region of
the Persian Gulf.
