Belarus, EU to have new cooperation plan in autumn
The European Union will consider a join plan of a structural dialogue with Belarus in the field of politics and economy in the beginning of autumn, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fuhle said after negotiations with Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhei Martynau. The talks took place in Minsk on July 9.
The EU commisioner noted that the document -- also dubbed as a 'road map' -- will stipulate the obligations of Belarus and EU. This document will begin the formation of the legal framework for cooperation between Belarus and EU.
Syarhei Martynau also noted the need for creating a legal ftramework. The parties, Martynau said, "are in preliminary talks" to boost partnership and cooperation. "Apparently, we need to follow a certain way for that", Belarusian foreign minister said.
Stefan Fuhle said at the final news conference that when drawing up an interim plan of reforms in relations between Belarus and EU, the views of the government and civil society of Belarus would be taken into account.
