Belarus to launch second satellite in 2009
Belarus plans to build and launch into space its second satellite in 2009, said Piotr Vitsyaz, the first deputy chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He said that the second satellite would be named BelKA-2 and launched using the Russian rocket. Belarus launched the first satellite in July 2006, but the Russian rocket exploded soon after take-off, reminds the Russian news agency Ria-Novosti.
