Belarus looks to ban polyethylene packets

The Belarus's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment does not rule out the country could join the campaign against the use of polyethylene bags in the future, according to Syarhey Kuzmyankou, the head of department for waste management at the ministry.
He said if the experience gained by China and Australia in banning the use of polyethylene bags proves a successs and leads to a remarkable improvement in the environment, our country could make similar measures in the future, reports the official news agency Belta.

However, polyethylene packets should not be banned at the moment. They should be processed, he said.
