Belarus pays for Russian gas imported in first half of 2009
Belarus has paid for the Russian gas, imported in the first half of 2009, Belarus first deputy primier Uladzimir Siamashka said in a statement. Belarus based the payments on the price of $150 oer 1000 cubic meters, reports the official news agency Belta. According to Simashka, the money was wired on July 22. Beginning from August 2009, Belarus will begin covering a difference with the contract cost of $252 million.
The official said Belarus will pay 100 percent of the current expenditures in August plus $50 million as part of the difference amount.
