Belarus, Russia still in talks over electricity transit

A new round of negotiations over the supplies and transit of the Russian electricity via Belarus will take place before January 16, the Russian news agency Ria Novosti reports. A source of Inter RAO EES, the Russian company that supplies electricity, has declined to comment on the results of talks that ended Tuesday in Minsk. He said that negotiations would continue.

The press service of the Russian company said earlier that it planned to supply up to 5.5 billion kWh of electrical energy to Belarus in 2010. Belarus is a key transit route for the Russian power supplies to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad and the Baltic states.
