Belarus will play for oil and gas in Russian roubles

Belarus has agreed to pay for oil and gas supplies from Russia in Russian roubles starting from 2009. It means that our country will have to turn some of its reserves into Russian roubles.
Thus, “Kommersant” informs that the stability of the Belarusian economy will depend on the stability of the Russian currency.

Belarus and Russia have also signed an agreement on allocation of a 2 billion dollar stabilizing credit to Minsk. The Russian Minister of Finance Alyaksei Kudryn has informed that the first tranche of 1 billion dollars will be allocated to Belarus within the next few days.

Another tranche of 1 billion dollars will be allocated later after another agreement is signed.

According to the agreement, the credit will be allocated for 15 years and a 5-year respite will be possible. The rate will be LIBOR+3%, reports “Interfax”.
