Belarusian Orthodox Christians celebrate Radunitsa today
Belarusians and other eastern Slavs acquired a tradition of commemorating their ancestors on this day ages ago. Feasts were organized near the graves of parents and relatives. Radunitsa is celebrated on the ninth day after Easter. Relatives are usually commemorated in church in the morning and then people go to cemeteries. There is a tradition of bringing an Easter egg for the dead. Priests note that the main thing is a prayer for the dead.
By the way, a tradition of celebrating Radunitsa in Belarus can be found not only in Orthodox Christians but in Greco-Catholics too. However, they have already celebrated it because the Greco-Catholic Church uses the Gregorian calendar just like other Catholics.
